Important Class News
**Lily will be our new Star of the Week! We are excited to see
what she has to say about herself.
**Thanks to all of you parents who have been helping your child
with Book-It. The December papers have been sent out. The goals are
bumped up 5 minutes a day for second grade and 3 minutes a day for
first grade: second graders have a reading goal of 75 minutes/week
or 15 minutes/day, first graders have a reading goal of 40
minutes/week or 8 minutes/day. I am expecting this reading time to
be the students reading to a parent or sibling. I would encourage
parents to read to their students each night, as well. The children
will learn most, by example. :)
** Our class will be donating to the Salvation Army/Food Pantry.
We are learning about giving to others who are less fortunate.
Please help your student collect canned/boxed foods to put under
our classroom tree. Thanks!
**This Christmas within class we are going to be talking about
Christmas Family Traditions. I will be asking students to bring
something to share with the class that explains a family tradition
of theirs. Whether it be an object, food, movie, story etc. I am
missing a few of the papers from students! Also, if any parents
would like to donate some of their time in the classroom, let me
know!
** We will not be exchanging material gifts within the
classroom. Our class has made a Christmas list of things our
classroom would appreciate. If you or your student would like to
contribute to gifts to our room, that all the students could use,
we would all appreciate it. You may wrap them as well, and as a
class we could open them-on December 22nd.
**Great job at the Music Program!
Miss Dunaway Season's Greetings!
