Honor Band Day
On Saturday, Feb. 23, the
Prague High School Band joined 240 middle school band students at
the eighth annual “York Middle School Honor Band Day.” The other
schools represented included Bancroft-Rosalie, Blue Hill, Boone
Central, Centennial, Central City, Fairbury, Fillmore Central,
Franklin, Freeman, Fullerton, Hastings St. Cecilia, Leigh, North
Loup-Scotia, Palmer, Scotus Central Catholic, Southern Valley, St.
Michael’s, St. Paul, Tri County, Twin River, Waverly and
York.
Students arrived at 12:30, and
spent nearly four hours rehearsing that afternoon. Clinicians Jim
Kucera and Susan Hottovy kept them busy learning new techniques to
help them be great musicians. They performed the final concert in
the York High School Theater at 6:30 p.m.
The Prague band members
present at this event were Amber Booze, flute; Katie Arp, clarinet;
Brooke Vanek, tenor saxophone; Austin Wade, trumpet; Scott Paseka,
trombone; and Alex Muessigmann, percussion.
Upcoming events for the band
members include the Frontier Conference Honor Band, Mar. 10 at
Parkview Christian School in Lincoln, with a concert at 7:00 p.m.;
the Prague Spring Concert, Mar. 27 at 7:00 p.m.; and District Music
Contest, Apr. 18 in Yutan.
