The Third Grade
Class completed an economics unit "Shoe-In"! The students were
placed in companies(groups) that will make sneakers. Each
group was responsible for creating a new sneaker making
several examples of it using an assembly line, and making an
advertisement for it. The students then made commercials to sell
their sneakers, which they presented to the class.
The Fourth Grade
Class were introduced to the traditional culture of the Inuit. They
were among the most adaptable people on Earth. From season to
season, the Inuit used whatever resources were available. The
students made a "Season to Season" booklet to think about seasonal
activities in their life. Imagine trying to sleep on summer nights
when it's bright as day, or not seeing the sun for part of each
winter. The Inuit played string games, hoping to prevent the sun
form falling below the horizon, signaling endless winters. The
Inuit also made animals out of the sting, which were sometimes used
to help tell stories and legends. The students were introduced to
string games and made- up their own legends. As a final project,
the fourth graders learned to build a snow house as the Inuit did
from modeling dough.
