Sew Cool Production Company
A project involving both teamwork and productivity had the eight
grade FCS quad students filling out a job application for the Sew
Cool Production Company. In this company their teams had one hour
of sewing time to construct a 16 square quilt. The jobs they
applied for were manager, quality control and sewer. The manager
would check to see that machines were operating properly and keep
everyone busy at all times. They also gave workers their next
sewing job. The quality control job was to inspect the fabric to
make sure the right sides of the fabric were sewn together and the
seams had the right seam allowance. They also helped to pin rows
together. The sewers would actually do the sewing making the seams
the correct width and backstitching at the beginning and end of the
seams. The class divided into four teams and once the jobs were
decided they got busy. The squares were already cut so they just
had to assemble them in the correct pattern as the sample. Groups
were very busy as they tried to meet their goals. Most groups
finished their projects in time .
